shady grove church is for you.
Our church is for those who are hurting, broken, seeking, and searching. Our church is for those who love the Lord and desire a community of believers to love & seek the Lord with. Our church is for people who need a place to belong. We’re here for you if you are interested in exploring your faith, if you need a safe place to ask questions, or if you need to find a sense of fellowship around the love of Jesus. Simply put, you have a seat at the table. We’ve been saving it just for you!
Salvation is eternal, & it's right here & now!
At Shady Grove Church, we believe that God (who formed & made you with care, love, and purpose) really does want salvation for you. If you are questioning whether or not you deserve to be saved, we want to tell you with all the confidence that Jesus Christ died with you in mind. Salvation is for all (yep, that includes you!), because all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). None of us can save ourselves. We are fallen, and sinners, and we all make mistakes.
The good news? We are the creation of great God Almighty who wants to save us from our sins.
Jesus died so we could have eternal life (John 3:16-17) and so that life right now can change in a dramatic and drastic way. Jesus tells us that He came to give life, and life abundantly (John 10:10). There will come a day that we will be judged, and in the right now, there is grace upon grace. God’s Word tells us that He wants redemption for everyone (2 Peter 3:9) because he made you & loves you with a love that sent His one and only Son to die on the cross so He could spend forever with you (Ephesians 2:10).

what does is mean that we are "loving god & reaching our community?"
Our vision statement is what our church's desire. We say this to & about about one another! We believe that to reach and serve others as Jesus did, it is absolutely imperative that we tend to our relationship with God. First.
Whatever your profession or walk of life looks like, we believe there is opportunity for you to share the love of Christ with the people God has put in your path. We desire to be a church encourages one another in faith, and serves alongside other believers to create a community that looks more and more like the face of Jesus. We do this is tangible ways, like our missions and caring teams that deliver food to the hungry, visit the widowed & shut-ins, and tend to those who are unwell. We also accomplish this by constantly being in prayer for our community, and the salvation & wellbeing of those that belong in it. If you desire to be a part of a community that loves the Lord and strives to be the hands and feet of Jesus, we encourage you to visit us on Sunday mornings to learn more about who we are!
Where can I learn more about being baptized?
If you have decided to follow Jesus, or if you are trying to seek that relationship out, this is the place for you! We believe that baptism is the outward act of an inward profession of faith. Although we are a Methodist church, this decision is not denominationally specific— it is entirely between you and God. Buuuuut, we’d love to have a “welcome to the family party” as we celebrate your decision and commitment to Christ!
Here's some next steps:
- We want to sit down with you and talk through how you came to this amazing, life-changing decision! If you talk to Pastor Jason first, he would connect you with a ministry leader to celebrate with you. If you’ve told a leader in the ministry you’re involved in, then we would arrange a meeting with the leader and Pastor Jason.
- We would love to talk again about the meaning of baptism and the ways in which we baptize. In our church, you have the choice of immersion, pouring, or sprinkling.
- We don’t know if you’ve been able to tell, but we LOVE baptisms! We think there is no better way to celebrate than with your church family rallying around you in this decision that you’ve made!
what if I want to join the church?
Maybe you’ve already been baptized, have been attending Shady Grove Church for awhile, and desire to publicly announce your commitment to this family. That’s great news! It’s worth noting that if you’ve already been baptized in a different denomination, you do not need to be baptized again in the Methodist denomination. That is a holy commitment to God that is separate from membership in the Methodist church, although membership does require that you be baptized before you join. If you’re curious about joining, and would rather take your time getting answers to your questions, we offer a quarterly Membership 101 class that is laid-back and no pressure. There is the option to join at the end of the class, but it is not required!
Here's some next steps:
- Make an appointment to speak with Pastor Jason and get any of your questions answered and tell us a little more about yourself. He would also tell you more about our church, who we are, and what we do.
- At Shady Grove Church, we ask you to commit in these five ways as a member: Commit your witness, presence, service, gifts, and prayers.
- Make a public profession of faith in front of the congregation to affirm that Jesus Christ is your Savior, that you have baptized, and that you commit your witness, presence, service, gifts, and prayers.
