Dear Church Family,
Please read below for this week’s announcements from Shady Grove:
-Missions: Our annual Turkey Dinner Fundraiser was a huge success! Church family, we can’t say thank you enough for your generous support of our 2020 fundraiser! We served 318 dinners and raised $4330 for mission projects in 2021. To everyone who cooked turkeys, baked cakes and pies, helped with setup, cleanup, and so many other ways in the kitchen and serving lines, and all who came out and supported us, God bless each of you. A special thanks to our church staff for taking your orders, to our youth for running their legs off to get your meals to you in a timely manner, and to our security crew who helped keep traffic flowing. It took all of us working together to make this event extra special in this pandemic year.
Crackers for Christmas in Jefferson County: During the month of November, we are taking donations for the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce Christmas Food Baskets for needy persons and family. Because of COVID, we have been asked to only give money to cover the cost of the 400 boxes of crackers we normally give. Our goal is to raise $600 to support this worthy cause. Please consider giving the amount you would spend to buy crackers.
Toys for Tots: Terry Witt has placed a collection box in the Narthex. Please bring new toys through the month of November to help bring joy to children who otherwise might not get any Christmas presents. Terry says the greatest need is for presents for ages 10 through 13. We will collect through Nov. 29th.
Holston Home Children’s Home 5th Sunday: November 29 is our last 5th Sunday of 2020. What better way to express our Christian faith than to invest in the lives of children whose lives have been broken and who look to the church to help them become whole again!
God bless you church family. Now, more than ever, we are called to be Jesus’s hands and feet during this season of pandemic.
- Treasurer’s Report: Though the pandemic has certainly impacted the church, the Finance Team is pleased to report that general tithes and offerings through October are running almost the same as the first ten months of 2019 at $255,000. Ministry expenses for the period were $241,000, which means we’ve taken in about $14,000 more than we’ve spent so far this year. Thank you for your ongoing support of Shady Grove and its ministries!
“Thank you, church family, for your continued giving and support despite this pandemic. I love you all!” -Pastor Jason
