Dear Church Family,
Read below for this week's announcements from Shady Grove:
- Our District Superintendent has contacted us to inform us that we will not be able to start in-person services during the first week of August due to the increase in COVID-19 cases in our area. We will let you know when we have a firm date to begin in-person services. We know that this is very frustrating to many, but we want to let you know that teams througout the church are coming up with alternative ways to connect during this time. We also want to encourage you to worship online with us on Sundays at 10am.
-Please keep the following people in your prayers: Kyndall DeMaria, Terry Witt, Joyce Keisling, Maddie Siples, The Bowles Family, Tim Barker, Frankie Simms, our kids as they go back to school,
-Access Life Expo 2020, outdoor event for persons and families living with disabilities, is Sat, August 15, at Cherokee Dam in Jefferson City. TVA has given us a “GO” for a smaller Expo using CDC safety protocols. Shady Grove will again be in charge of food and we need volunteers to work either a 4-hour morning shift from 7:30am to 11:30am or a 4-hour afternoon shift from 11:30am to 3:30pm. Due to social distances requirements, the number of volunteers is limited to 25 family units. Food area is allotted 5. Barb Suttles, who oversees food, needs at least 6 helpers to cook, package, and hand out food and water. On morning shift, we have 2 couples already signed up and we need at least 2 more individuals or couples. On the afternoon shift, we have 1 family units and 2 individuals. We need at least 1 more person or family group. Masks and gloves will be required (and furnished) and you must sign a COVID-19 waiver on arrival at event. You will also need to pre-register at www.access-life.org. From the Home page, under Quick Links click on Expo Registration, choose ETN EXPO and answer all questions. Under areas you wish to help, Food is last option or you can choose something else. IMPORTANT: If you are a family unit living together, register up to 6 persons on same page.
NOTE: If you are planning to help both times, you need to register twice.
If you are willing to help this year, please respond to Helen McClaren that you will work either the morning or afternoon shift. You may leave voice message or send text to 731-694-7271 or email at firstname.lastname@example.org. This is needed so we know we have enough volunteers.
-Food for Kids at Piedmont School: We will again supply weekend bags of food for hungry children and are continuing to collect food throughout this nexct week. You can either purchase food and drop off at the church Mondays-Thursdays, 9am-3pm, or send a monetary donation. It costs $3.50/bag or $140.00 per week to feed 40 children. We plan to have the first bags to the school by Friday August 14th.
