Dear Church Family,
Please read below for this week's announcements from Shady Grove:
- The Guy Penrod concert will be held this year!!!! Linda has tickets for people who have asked her to hold them. If you need tickets, please purchase them at Lakeway Realty in downtown Dandridge or go to itickets.com online. Please note, that the tickets are selling like “hot manna” at itickets.com. You may also contact Linda Matthews or call the church for questions and tickets. (contact info is in the directory) The concert will be at 7:00 PM on September 3, 2021. The doors will open at 6:00. The cost will be $25.00 per person and this is a great value for the evening of music and worship you will receive. Please put this date on your calendar. Guy will be here with his band! See you there!
-Last weeks announcements let us know about a new Bible Study small group, meeting at Wilma Zollweg’s home on Wednesday mornings. Great news----this study is full. Please contact Jean Jarnigan for information on the next small group forming.
-Hill’s Union UMC will be hosting a revival on May 18-20. Our own Pastor Jason will preach on the 20th. Let’s all go and support John Ramey, their pastor and our own Pastor Jason. Each evening will begin at 7:00. Come out each evening to hear great preaching, but especially Thursday night.
- Are you grieving the loss of a loved one? Do you need help in handling the odd and sometimes hurtful comments of others? Are you unsure if the crazy thoughts you're having are normal? Join us Sunday evenings at 5 PM in the youth classroom for Griefshare. You don't need to talk if you don't want to. Just come, watch the video, and listen. It will help: we guarantee it.
-You can now catch our worship services on Youtube.com. The only catch is just not on Sunday. They will be available starting on Monday each week. Just search “shady grove united methodist church”. We will keep you updated as to when you may watch the service as it is live streamed.
-For those of you who have taken Jason’s Class called “101”, he’s beginning “201” starting Many 9th. He will meet with this class between services, in King Street.
-There will be a VBS volunteer meeting on May 23rd and 2:00 in Fellowship Hall. This does not mean you can volunteer to not go!!!!! Please be there! Eddie is working very hard on this adventure for the kids in our area.
-SAVE THE DATE!!! July 23 and 24 is our Rummage Sale for the benefit of the playground project. The Saturday date is the day that we will have outside venders here and, no doubt, lots of traffic. We also need helpers for those day too. If you can help, please call Karen Stryker.
-The church is currently hiring for the following positions: Administrative Assistant, Children’s Director, and Nursery Worker. For more information and to submit your resume, go to indeed.com. Please be in prayer for the SPR team, that they find the right people to fill these positions.
-We are going to update our church directory this spring. If your picture is not what you want, if you’ve lost a ton of weight, if you just want another dress in the picture, please contact the church office. No, actually, we need your correct information so replace any that is wrong.
ACCESS-LIFE East Tennessee EXPO is June 26 at Cherokee Dam. We need volunteers to help with serving food again this year. Barb Suttles is our lead person. Call her at 865-397-2445 or Helen McClaren at 731-694-7271 if you can help. We will also have a sign-up sheet in the Narthex.
However, due to Covid restrictions including limited attendees, you must also go to the A-L webpage and pre-register: WWW.access-life.org.
For those of you not familiar with Access-Life, it is a free community outreach providing a time of Christ-centered encouragement, support and fun for individuals and families living with disabilities through boat rides, bank fishing, archery, kayaking, animals, art, games, food and other activities.
We also collect good, used handicapped equipment that we take to Belize to distribute at an Expo there.
Go to the Shady Grove Facebook page and scroll to the A-L video for a 3-minute documentary of the 10th anniversary Expo and for information on how you can help financially.
God bless you for your faithful support and help with this wonderful ministry for the last 11 years.
-Missions: Food Buckets for Liberia is this year’s Holston Annual Conference Hands-On Mission Project.
Thank you, Church Family!! You have been so generous with giving to this project that we have met our goal of 40 buckets. Once again you have shown that Shady Grove is the hands and feet of Christ to a hungry, hurting world. God bless you.
-Next Sunday, May 30th, we will collect our Holston Home Fifth Sunday Offering. With our help, Holston Home for Children provides hope and healing for a brighter future by sharing the love of Jesus with children and families struggling with life's challenges. Envelopes will be in the pews. Please give generously.
-Please, church family, when you have an event inside the church, check that the doors are locked and the lights are turned off before you leave.
