Dear Shady Grove Family,

Please read below for this week's announcements from Shady Grove-

-Missions: Our annual Turkey Dinner Fundraiser will be held a week from this Saturday, November 14 from 4:30 to 7pm. Due to COVID, it will drive-through, curbside take-out only. Cost is $10 per plate for adults and $5 per plate for children 6 and under. We still need 2 volunteers to cook 2 turkey breasts and 2 volunteers to help serve for 5:30 to 7pm. Please call Wilma Zollweg at 865-397-5380 if you can help with either of these. Thank you, Church Family, for your ongoing generous support on this annual event.
Crackers for Christmas in Jefferson County: During the month of November, we are taking donations for the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce Christmas Food Baskets for needy persons and family. Because of COVID, we have been asked to only give money to cover the cost of the 400 boxes of crackers we normally give. Our goal is to raise $600 to support this worthy cause. Please consider giving the amount you would spend to buy crackers.
Toys for Tots: Terry Witt has placed a collection box in the Narthex. Please bring new toys through the month of November to help bring joy to children who otherwise might not get any Christmas presents. We are especially in need of toys for children 10 and up.

- If you have been asked by Pastor Jason to write a devotional for our Lenten Devotional Book, please be sure to email your devotion to him ASAP. If you have any questions, please contact the office.

-Our annual Shady Grove Book (formerly "Orange Book") is now available on our website at the bottom of the home page. You can access it and download it from this link: http://www.shadygrovedandridge.org/shady-grove-book.html . If you would like a printed copy and cannot print a copy from the download at home, please email the office at assist@shadygrovedandridge.org.

-Are you grieving the loss of a loved one?  Do you need help in handling the odd and sometimes hurtful comments of others? Are you unsure if the crazy thoughts you're having are normal?  Join us Wednesday mornings at 10 AM in the youth classroom for Griefshare.  You don't need to talk if you don't want to. Just come, watch the video and listen.  It will help; we guarantee it. We will meet you in the evening if necessary.

- Please keep the following people in your prayers: Tim Barker, Frankie Simms, Joyce Keisling, Terry Witt, Malcolm Cotton, the Van Horn Family, the Bowles Family, the Lane Family, the Miller Family, Amy Graves, Christy Bowlin, Hilda Skeens, Jeff Reese, Kyndall DeMaria, Tabitha Coffey, Mark Gapetz, Foland Family, Kevin Fox, Susan Cheetham, Suzanne Guidry, and Claire Cortozza.

Dear Church Family,
Please read below for this week’s announcements from Shady Grove:

-A special thank you to all the volunteers who helped at our Fall-A-Palooza! We had between 100 and 150 children drive through our scenes, and multiple families drove through a second and third time to see it again! Thank you to everyone who was involved; we couldn’t have done it without you!

-Missions Announcements:
Our Annual Turkey Dinner Fundraiser is going to be curbside pickup only this year. It will be held on Saturday, Nov.14th from 4:30 to 7pm. Cost /plate is $10.00. A sign up sheet will be forthcoming for volunteers to roast turkeys, furnish food, and help serve.

In recent years we have collected 400+ boxes of saltine crackers for the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce Christmas Food Baskets for needy persons and families. This year, because of COVID, they have asked for monetary donations only. They will buy in bulk with the money they receive.  We will take donations during November.  Please consider giving the amount you would normally spend on crackers for this worthwhile project.  We are called, ever more so, to be Jesus's hands and feet during this season of pandemic.  God bless each of you.

·Sedette Jenkins (Ray’s dad)
·Lloyd Jenkins (Ray’s uncle)

Dear Church Family,
Read below for this week's announcements from Shady Grove-
- The District Superintendent has approved our request to start outdoor services on August 30! We will meet outside of King Street at 10:30am for a short service. We are still required to social distance and to wear masks, but we will not be asking for families to RSVP. We will also continue to host on online service at 10:00am on Facebook. Bring your lawn chair and Bibles and meet us on the front lawn next Sunday!
-Ignite Youth is meeting on Monday nights at 6:30 over Zoom. If you have any questions, you can contact Eddie.
-The Children's Ministry has received permission to host a Chalk the Walk on September 12 from 9am-11am. Families are invited to come to the church and decorate parking spaces with their beautiful chalk drawings. Each family will be asked to bring their own chalk and will be assigned parking spaces to ensure social distancing. We hope to see you there!
- If you are interested in joining Jason’s Bible study on Wednesday nights at 6:00, you can email him at pastor@shadygrovedandridge.org.
-Next Sunday, August 30, we are collecting our Holston Home Fifth Sunday Offering. With our help, Holston Home for Children provides hope and healing for a brighter future by sharing the love of Jesus with children and families struggling with life's challenges. You can mail your contributions to the church or drop them off Mon-Thur between 9 and 3.
-Access Life Expo 2020, an event to share God’s great outdoors with persons and families living with disabilities, was held Sat, August 15, at Cherokee Dam in Jefferson City. In spite of the pandemic and an all-day rain, as one participant worded it, the event “poured love on people who needed to feel a sense of pre-Covid ‘normalcy’ in a fun, safe, clean environment.” With only 201 people, this was the lowest attended Expo ever in East Tennessee, but it definitely met many folk’s need for connection in these uncertain times.
Shady Grove was again in charge of food and we had wonderful volunteers to cook, package, and serve food, water and lots of heart-warming smiles.
The theme this year was “4 the 1.” Volunteers went the extra mile to make this Expo special for the one we serve, our Lord Jesus Christ, and for the one person in attendance who needed to feel the touch of our Lord. We all served as Jesus’s hands and feet.
One parent wrote, “I just want to thank you…it was a tremendous event. My 21 year-old son with Downs syndrome has had every single activity canceled since March including his last weeks of public school. He was beyond happy today.”
Thank you, Shady Grove family, to all who helped in many ways to make this event a God-Blessed Success.
-Food for Kids at Piedmont School: We are again supplying weekend bags of food for hungry children. This will go through the end of this year. You can help by either purchasing food and dropping it off at the church Mondays-Thursdays, 9am-3pm, or by sending a monetary donation. It costs $3.50/bag or $140.00 per week to feed 40 children.
