Dear Church Family,
Please read below for this week's announcements from Shady Grove:
-This is the month for VBS!!!! Please register your child online on our website:
shadygrovedandridge.org. All attendees must register online!
Children’s Sunday school will restart on June 13 at 10:00. The first 15-20 minutes will be spent in the music room to work with Ms. Linda in King’s Kids choir---then they will go with their teachers to Sunday school. Also adult and youth Sunday school are meeting too. Come and learn from all of our great teachers!
-Safe Sanctuaries will be given on July 11, at 2:00. If you work with children or vulnerable adults, it is required that you take this short training every year. Please put this on your calendar.
-Please contact Jean Jarnigan (co-education chair) for information about our small groups. New ones have been formed and are meeting. We have 4 small groups so far. Your lives are enriched by these groups---new friendships are made---and learning more about the Bible is needed for these times. If you are interested in hosting a group in your home, or leading one, just call Jean! Come and join us----just call Jean.
(Just call Jean could become a slogan for the education department!!!!!)
- Are you grieving the loss of a loved one? Do you need help in handling the odd and sometimes hurtful comments of others? Are you unsure if the crazy thoughts you're having are normal? Join us Sunday evenings at 5 PM in the youth classroom for Griefshare. You don't need to talk if you don't want to. Just come, watch the video, and listen. It will help: we guarantee it.
-You can now catch our worship services on Youtube.com. The only catch is just not on Sunday. They will be available starting on Monday each week. Just search “shady grove united methodist church”. We will keep you updated as to when you may watch the service as it is live streamed.
-SAVE THE DATE!!! July 23 and 24 is our Rummage Sale for the benefit of the playground project. The Saturday date is the day that we will have outside venders here and, no doubt, lots of traffic. We also need helpers for those day too. If you can help, please call Karen Stryker. The 23rd is only for our church. We are not taking clothes this year, but we do need your big items that sell well. And we will be collecting items for the sale staring on July 5th. All proceeds will go to the playground! The Fellowship Hallo will not be available from, July 5-July 24, just in case you were thinking about a party!
-Guy Penrod will be here in concert on September 3rd at the 7:00. It’s really happening!
Please see Linda for information about tickets, or to buy one. They are $25.00 per person. Out of our batch of 200 tickets online, there are only 63 left, as of this writing. The website is itickets.com if you want to get tickets. You can buy them from Linda at church on Wednesdays and between services on Sunday mornings, or at Lakeway Realty in downtown Dandridge during the week.
-The church is currently hiring for the following positions: Children’s Ministry Leader. For more information and to submit your resume, go to indeed.com. Please be in prayer for the SPR team, that they find the right people to fill these positions.
-We are going to update our church directory this spring. If your picture is not what you want, if you’ve lost a ton of weight, if you just want another dress in the picture, please contact the church office. No, actually, we need your correct information so replace any that is wrong.
-The church is in need of yarn for the prayer shawls. If you have yarn, or would like to make a donation for that mission project, please designate the gift to Prayer Shawls.
ACCESS-LIFE East Tennessee EXPO is June 26 at Cherokee Dam. We need volunteers to help with serving food again this year. Barb Suttles is our lead person. Call her at 865-397-2445 or Helen McClaren at 731-694-7271 if you can help. We will also have a sign-up sheet in the Narthex.
However, due to Covid restrictions including limited attendees, you must also go to the A-L webpage and pre-register: WWW.access-life.org.
For those of you not familiar with Access-Life, it is a free community outreach providing a time of Christ-centered encouragement, support and fun for individuals and families living with disabilities through boat rides, bank fishing, archery, kayaking, animals, art, games, food and other activities.
We also collect good, used handicapped equipment that we take to Belize to distribute at an Expo there.
Go to the Shady Grove Facebook page and scroll to the A-L video for a 3-minute documentary of the 10th anniversary Expo and for information on how you can help financially.
God bless you for your faithful support and help with this wonderful ministry for the last 11 years.
