We hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year! Check below to see our activities from December and take a look ahead into the first month of 2020.
Breakfast with Santa
We took a fun journey through CandyLand on December 7 at Breakfast with Santa! We had about 200 people in attendance in addition to over 40 volunteers. Thank you, church family, for all your help with this community outreach event!
Chancel Choir Concert
On December 15, our Chancel Choir performed the music that they sang at Carnegie Hall in November, Sing Christmas by Mary McDonald and Joel Ramey. Mary McDonald herself, along with her daughter Beth Smith, accompanied the choir on the piano. We were honored to have such talented pianists in attendance, and our choir performed beautifully. Thank you, Linda Matthews and Chancel Choir, for all the work you put into this wonderful concert.
Christmas Eve Service
We had a beautiful Christmas Eve Service, where we celebrated the greatest Christmas gift ever given with 200 people in attendance!
Wednesday Night Activities
Wednesday night activities will resume on January 15th beginning with dinner in the fellowship hall at 5:45. We hope to see you there!
Ashley is still looking for nursery volunteers to help on Sunday mornings from 8:45-12:15 once every two months and on Wednesday nights from 5:30-7:30 once a month. If you are interested in helping out, you can email her at email@example.com.
Mrs. Ashley and Co. would like to wish a very happy birthday to James Clyde, Caroline Connin, Milly Custodio, Cassandra Hall, Elijah Resurreccion, Eyan Resurreccion, and Kyndall DeMaria in the month of January!
This month, Ashley would like to recognize one of our Preschool Sunday School teachers, Ms. Hannah McIntosh! Ms. Hannah joined us as a teacher last year and has also volunteered in the nursery on Wednesday nights, all while working and taking a full course load in school. Thank you, Ms. Hannah, for giving up your spare time (what little there is!) to help in the Children's Ministry! We are thankful for you!
notes from the music department
Back to Rehearsal!
Our Music Department has been away from rehearsals for a couple of weeks, but beginning January 8th we will be back in the choir room learning new music. If you have been thinking about coming and joining us, now is a great time.
Dandridge Community Choir Concert
On Palm Sunday, April 5th, we will be singing with the Dandridge Community Choir at First Baptist Church, a concert written by Mary McDonald. All the music will be Mary’s, and will take us from Jesus’ triumphal entry into the city through the cross and his coming again. Please mark your calendars now for this very special event. More information will be coming about that in later newsletters.
Hand Bell Choir
If there is anyone interested in starting and playing in a hand-bell choir, please let Linda know. We could rehearse at 5:00 on Wednesdays and then everyone would be ready for the evening’s activities. The only criteria would be that you must be able to read music. Bell playing instruction would come in the rehearsals.
Now that Christmas is over, we will be getting ready for the Easter season. Come and join us to sing, ring, and get some laughs while we get ready.

During the month of December, we had 6 individuals join the church: Carl Jones, Bob and Irene Sisler, Barbara and Bill Mosely, and De Perrin. If you see them, make sure to welcome them to the Shady Grove Family!
