Dear Church Family,
Please read below for this week's announcements from Shady Grove:
-Our Church Leadership will meet on Sunday, February 28, 2021, at 2pm in the sanctuary. This meeting is open to all church members who wish to attend. Masks and social distancing are required. Zoom will be available; if you wish to join by Zoom, please email Ashley Wren by 3pm on Thursday, Feb 25.
-The Trustees will be meeting on February 21st at 10am in the Sunday school room across from Jason’s office. Please contact Ernie Jarnigan with any questions.
-Treasurer’s Report: Our church received $304,000 in tithes and offerings in 2020, down a bit from the previous year but still more than enough to cover our expenses with almost $6,000 to spare. Amazingly, we’ve also been blessed with an additional $73,000 in designated donations for specific benevolence causes, mission and ministry work, and church improvements. Though the pandemic has definitely impacted us this year, the love of God that you show through your financial support of Shady Grove and its ministry continues to shine!
-The Children’s Ministry will be hosting monthly events for families through July of 2021. The event for March will be a Mission Project Day and will be held on March 6th from 12-2pm in the Fellowship Hall. We will be engaging in child-friendly mission projects and a time of fellowship. We ask that you wear masks and social distance during the event. As these events are family-focused, Mrs. Ashley asks that parents, grandparents, or guardians come with each child who attends. We can’t wait to see you there!
-Missions: We have 2 more Sundays to collect Hygiene Kits for UMCOR, the United Methodist Committee on Relief. These kits are given out during disasters like tornados and floods. By replacing stock now, we are helping UMCOR be ready when the next disaster strikes. Due to Covid restrictions, you may “purchase” a kit by donating $15.00 (includes $2 for toothpaste and shipping) or you may bring the items plus $2 to the church in a grocery bag (see list below.) Last year, we supplied108 kits. Let’s see if we can do it again!
God bless each of you for your faithful care of those in need.
