Hello church family!
As we approach Easter, both our church and our community have provided many different ways for us to come together and worship our Risen King! Here are the details:
Shady grove holy week
-The Easter Egg Hunt will be held Saturday, April 13 at Mt. Horeb Elementary School from 2-4. This free, family-friendly event will be fun for kids of all ages!
(In the case of rain, the event will be moved to the next Saturday, April 20, at the same place and time)
-We have Palm Sunday Services at 9:00am (Traditional) and 11:15 (Modern).
-Our Maundy Thursday Service is at 7:00pm in our sanctuary. This service will be a reenactment of Jesus washing his disciples' feet and his serving of communion, from which we will learn what it means to serve others.
-Our Good Friday Service is at 7:00pm in our sanctuary. We will be discussing Jesus' final seven phrases on the cross.
-Our Sonrise Service will be held outdoors at the Shady Grove Cemetery at 7:00am.
-Our 9:00am (Traditional) and 11:15am (Modern) Easter services will be held in the Sanctuary.

"thank you" from the children's ministry
The Children's Ministry (and myself in particular!) would like to thank everyone who gave eggs, candy, and money toward the Easter Egg hunt, as well as all the volunteers who came out to help me stuff eggs! Once again, this church has proved how generous her members are. Thanks to all of you, we will be able to reach out to the community with the love of Christ through our event!
P.S. from the choir
The Music Department needs your help as they work to raise money to sing Mary McDonald’s “Sing Christmas” at Carnegie Hall this November. We have Shady Grove pens for sale each Sunday in the Narthex for a $3.00 donation. If you have a business, these would make great gifts for your customers. The composer herself has invited us to sing----and it’s quite an honor. Another bake sale will be coming us and then there’s the AUCTION May 17th at 6:00. If you have donations to be sold for the Auction please bring them to the choir room. Thank you to those who have already done this! See you at the Auction!
To God be the glory as we endeavor to praise His name this week and beyond!
I would like to share with you that our church-wide prayer week is coming up March 10-17, 2019. We invite not only our church members but also the entire community to join us as we spend a week concentrating on talking with and listening to our awesome God! We have several events scheduled for this week that aim to bring the church together in prayer, as Jesus told us, "For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them" (Matthew 18:20). The schedule for this week is below, but I would like to highlight a few areas.
For years, we at Shady Grove UMC have partnered with Piedmont in order to meet their physical needs. We have set aside March 10 to meet their spiritual needs. We will meet at the school at 2:00 on the 10th to prayer walk through the school as a church. Anyone is welcome that afternoon to come and pray with us.
The 24-hour Day of Prayer, which will be from Wednesday March 18 at 8:00am to Thursday March 19 at 8:00am, is a wonderful opportunity to cover our church family and community in prayer. Those who would like to participate can sign up for thirty minute time slots. While you are more than welcome to come and pray at the church, you do not have to be in the building to pray during your time slot. If you would like to sign up to join your brothers and sisters in prayer, you can email Ashley Wren at email@example.com.
Though this week is concentrating on prayer, we would also like to come together for a service project to put some work behind our words! We will meet at the church at 8am on March 16th for a breakfast provided by UMM before we split up and work on various projects throughout the church. These projects are not only to keep our church in working order, but also to keep it looking nice and clean! If you would like to sign up to help, you can email Ashley Wren at firstname.lastname@example.org. If you are planning to attend, please sign up so we can include you in the breakfast!
We hope to see many faces throughout the week at our worship services and at the altar. We encourage everyone both in the church and in the community to join with us as we seek God's face. If you have any questions, you can reply to this post or email Ashley Wren at email@example.com.
Goodbye for now!
