Hello Church Family!
Please read below for this week's announcements:
-Our first outdoor worship is this Sunday, August 30, at 10:30am. We will meet in front of the King Street entrance for a time of worship. Please bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit on, as well as a mask (which the district requires us to wear while on church property). We are so excited to be able to be together again and can't wait to see everyone! For those who do not feel comfortable attending, we will be hosting a live service on Facebook at 9:00am.
-Our Guy Penrod concert has been postponed until November 8th at 4:00. If you have bought tickets thru itickets.com, please contact them. They know of the change and will be happy to help you. We hope and pray that we will be able to meet in November to see this wonderful concert. If, not, it will be postponed once again. Thank you for your patience.
-The Music Department collects cans to be recycled to earn a little extra cash. Please, when bringing your cans, make sure that there are only cans----no glass or plastic. When other materials get thrown in, the process takes longer. Please bring your cans to the church during the day---Monday-Thursday. Thank you to Marvin Stewart who has been taking care of this.
-King's Kidz has been given permission to meet in the parking lot beginning next Wednesday, September 2. Kids ages 5-11 will meet in the lower parking lot by the playground between 6 and 6:45. Chairs will be provided, but please have your children bring their masks. We can't wait to see the kids again! If you have any questions, you can contact Ashley Wren at assist@shadygrovedandridge.org.
-Food for Kids at Piedmont School: We are again supplying weekend bags of food for hungry children. This will go through the end of this school year. You can help by either purchasing food and dropping it off at the church Mondays-Thursdays, 9am-3pm, or by sending a monetary donation. It costs $3.50/bag or $140.00 per week to feed 40 children. The first bags were delivered to the school this past week.
-This Sunday, August 30, we are collecting our Holston Home Fifth Sunday Offering. With our help, Holston Home for Children provides hope and healing for a brighter future by sharing the love of Jesus with children and families struggling with life's challenges. You can mail your contributions to the church or drop them off Mon-Thur between 9 and 3.
Items must be in Child Friendly Containers. Ravioli, Beanie-Weenies, Peanut butter crackers, Oatmeal packets, Fruit & Grain bars, Fruit cups, applesauce, Mac & Cheese Cups and Pudding cups.
-Please keep the following people in your prayers:  Amy Graves, Bobby Collins, Christy Bowlin, Hilda Skeens, Jeff Reese, The Lane Family, the Coddington Family, the Bowles Family, the VanHorn Family, Frankie Simms, Tim Barker, Charles Foster, and Kyndall DeMaria.
We love you, church family!

Dear Church Family,
Read below for this week's announcements from Shady Grove-
- The District Superintendent has approved our request to start outdoor services on August 30! We will meet outside of King Street at 10:30am for a short service. We are still required to social distance and to wear masks, but we will not be asking for families to RSVP. We will also continue to host on online service at 10:00am on Facebook. Bring your lawn chair and Bibles and meet us on the front lawn next Sunday!
-Ignite Youth is meeting on Monday nights at 6:30 over Zoom. If you have any questions, you can contact Eddie.
-The Children's Ministry has received permission to host a Chalk the Walk on September 12 from 9am-11am. Families are invited to come to the church and decorate parking spaces with their beautiful chalk drawings. Each family will be asked to bring their own chalk and will be assigned parking spaces to ensure social distancing. We hope to see you there!
- If you are interested in joining Jason’s Bible study on Wednesday nights at 6:00, you can email him at pastor@shadygrovedandridge.org.
-Next Sunday, August 30, we are collecting our Holston Home Fifth Sunday Offering. With our help, Holston Home for Children provides hope and healing for a brighter future by sharing the love of Jesus with children and families struggling with life's challenges. You can mail your contributions to the church or drop them off Mon-Thur between 9 and 3.
-Access Life Expo 2020, an event to share God’s great outdoors with persons and families living with disabilities, was held Sat, August 15, at Cherokee Dam in Jefferson City. In spite of the pandemic and an all-day rain, as one participant worded it, the event “poured love on people who needed to feel a sense of pre-Covid ‘normalcy’ in a fun, safe, clean environment.” With only 201 people, this was the lowest attended Expo ever in East Tennessee, but it definitely met many folk’s need for connection in these uncertain times.
Shady Grove was again in charge of food and we had wonderful volunteers to cook, package, and serve food, water and lots of heart-warming smiles.
The theme this year was “4 the 1.” Volunteers went the extra mile to make this Expo special for the one we serve, our Lord Jesus Christ, and for the one person in attendance who needed to feel the touch of our Lord. We all served as Jesus’s hands and feet.
One parent wrote, “I just want to thank you…it was a tremendous event. My 21 year-old son with Downs syndrome has had every single activity canceled since March including his last weeks of public school. He was beyond happy today.”
Thank you, Shady Grove family, to all who helped in many ways to make this event a God-Blessed Success.
