Hello everyone! Are you ready for a new school year? Here at Shady Grove, we are sad to see summer come to an end, but we are ready to get back into the swing of things! Look below to check out our fall activities, but first let's review what happened in July! updates Jubilee Visit During VBS, our children, youth, and adults collected 2,020 boxes of food for the Jubilee Project! Our staff, along with Helen McClaren, visited Jubilee in early July to deliver the food and were blessed by the gratitude and kindness of the Jubilee staff. Thank you, church, for supporting this wonderful ministry! Camp Wesley Woods We sent five children to Camp Wesley Woods this year, and they had a great time learning about how God's love is out of this world! Jason joined them during the week as a Minister in Residence, and Eddie came up for a day to visit. Hamburger, Hot Dot, and Ice Cream Social Our United Methodist Men held their summer fundraiser on July 13th, serving hot dogs and hamburgers to about 60 guests. Members of the church brought homemade ice cream to round out the hot summer Saturday. As such, we have several exciting announcements. Children's Church Starting August 11, Shady Grove will be offering Children's Church for children ages 3-2nd grade during the 11:15 service. Families will worship together during the first half of the service and go with Mrs. Ashley to King Street prior to the sermon. There they will engage in a lesson that parallels Jason's sermon, along with crafts and activities. Parents will pick up their children in King Street after the service. Ashley is asking that every parent who has a child attending Children's Church volunteer to be on a rotation as an assistant to teachers Ashley Wren and Tonya Moyers. We are so excited to begin this new step with the hopes of reaching out to young families within our church and our community! Sunday School This Sunday, August 4, is our Promotion Sunday here at Shady Grove, and we will be unveiling a new children's Sunday school class that morning!
