Dear Church Family,
Please read below for this week's announcements from Shady Grove:
-As this is Ashley’s last Sunday, the church is throwing a good-bye reception for her and Clint in the Fellowship Hall on Sunday between the services. We hope to see you there.
- Exciting News from the Music Department: We think the September 3rd date for Guy Penrod is a “GO”! Linda has tickets for people who have asked her to hold them. If you need tickets, please purchase them at Lakeway Realty in downtown Dandridge or go to itickets.com online.
You may also contact Linda Matthews for questions and tickets. The concert will be at 7:00 PM on September 3, 2021. The doors will open at 6:00. The cost will be $25.00 per person and this is a great value for the evening of music and worship you will receive. Please put this date on your calendar. Guy will be here with his band! See you there!
-Food Buckets for Liberia is this year’s Holston Annual Conference Hands-On Mission Project. Due to ongoing Covid restrictions, we will again ask for money donations to purchase the food. Cost to fill 1 bucket, including shipping, is $25.00. Please help us meet our goal of 40 buckets. We will accept donations through May 23. Make check payable to SGUMC and write Missions: Food Bucket in memo. If paying with cash, put in envelope, write Missions: Food Bucket on envelope and drop in offering box. Together with other churches, we can be part of something bigger than ourselves and BIG is needed more than ever this year as the world recovers from this pandemic. What we do to help others, we do for Christ.
-The Trustees Team will meet this Sunday, April 25th, at 10:00am in the Sunday school room across from Jason’s office. If you have any questions, please contact Trustee Chair Earnie Jarnigan.
-The church is currently hiring for the following positions: Administrative Assistant, Children’s Director, and Nursery Worker. For more information and to submit your resume, go to indeed.com.
- Are you grieving the loss of a loved one? Do you need help in handling the odd and sometimes hurtful comments of others? Are you unsure if the crazy thoughts you're having are normal? Join us Sunday evenings at 5 PM in the youth classroom for Griefshare. You don't need to talk if you don't want to. Just come, watch the video, and listen. It will help; we guarantee it.
-Missions: The Koinonia Ladies Bible Study is hosting “Undy Sundays” in April and May. They will be collecting underwear and socks for the children receiving our weekend food bags. We need girls’ panties, boys’ briefs, and socks for ages 5-11. These will be distributed by the school to the parents on the last day of school, May 21st. There will be a collection box in the narthex until May 16. Please help these children get a good start to the summer break.
[Note: Koinonia means Christian fellowship, joint participation, sharing and contributing what one has. When this group formed, they determined to do more than study God’s Word together; they had the passion to make a difference in our community. Since Shady Grove is already providing food bags to Piedmont and Mt. Horeb Schools, meeting other needs lead to the idea of “Undy Sundays.”]
-Please keep the following people in your prayers: Jeff Moncier, Frankie Simms, Tim Barker, Kevin Fox, Kyndall DeMaria, Claire Cortozza, Malcolm Cotton, Amy Graves, Christy Bowlin, Hilda Skeens, Lisa Swafford, Brenda Bradley, Kelly and Brandon Langston, Jeff Reece, Robin Boyias, Kenna Clabough, Charles Foster, Travis Hicks, Marilyn Noel, LC and Lois Batson, Mark Gapetz, Cindy Miller, Leandra Puckett, The Powers Family, Jack Glenn, Jan Enoch, Jack Appleby, Tonya Moyers, Sandi Bush, Lon Thornton III, Butch Baxter, Cody Fox, Ken Carpenter, and Bill Cheetham.
We love you, church family!
